A Day of Mindfulness - Full Day Retreat Retreat with Roshi Joan Lehrhaupt

Meditation groupd

Description

A day of mindfulness practice including periods of silence and various forms of mindful meditation, walking, sitting, eating, meditative movement, as well as a talk and a period of mindful discussion toward the end of the retreat. Please bring a packed lunch. Practitioners of all meditative traditions are welcome.

Some experience in meditation is necessary. While meditation instruction and guided meditations will be offered, the retreat is not suitable for beginners.

Additional Info

We enter the building through the back door, remove shoes and meet in the larger meditaton hall in the front of the building. We have plenty of chairs and cushions so you do not need to bring anything.

Please refrain from wearing scented products (natural or unnatural) as some people are allergic.

Roshi Linda

Teacher

Roshi Linda Myoki Lehrhaupt, PhD

Linda began her meditation practice in 1979 and is a senior Zen teacher in the White Plum Lineage of Maezumi Roshi, founder of the Zen Center of Los Angeles. She is also the founder and executive director of the Institute for Mindfulness-Based Approaches, a leading teacher-training institute for MBSR and other mindfulness-based programs.

For over 40 years, she has practiced and taught Tai Chi and Qigong. She earned her PhD in Performance Studies from New York University in 1990, specializing in religious ritual and traditions. Linda is the author of several books, including Tai Chi as a Path of Wisdom (Shambhala, 2001) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (New World Library, 2010).

Linda’s teaching is shaped by warmth, humor, and deep appreciation for everyday life. Her students appreciate her gift for turning complex teachings into clear, engaging, and practical guidance.
She has visited her daughter in Tucson for more than 25 years and looks forward to joining the community more fully in the near future.
