About Roshi Linda

Linda Lehrhaupt

Roshi Linda Myoki Lehrhaupt, PhD

Linda began her meditation practice in 1979 and is a senior Zen teacher in the White Plum Lineage of Maezumi Roshi, founder of the Zen Center of Los Angeles. She is also the founder and executive director of the Institute for Mindfulness-Based Approaches, a leading teacher-training institute for MBSR and other mindfulness-based programs.

For over 40 years, she has practiced and taught Tai Chi and Qigong. She earned her PhD in Performance Studies from New York University in 1990, specializing in religious ritual and traditions. Linda is the author of several books, including Tai Chi as a Path of Wisdom (Shambhala, 2001) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (New World Library, 2010).

Linda’s teaching is shaped by warmth, humor, and deep appreciation for everyday life. Her students appreciate her gift for turning complex teachings into clear, engaging, and practical guidance.
She has visited her daughter in Tucson for more than 25 years and looks forward to joining the community more fully in the near future.
